8 Lessons Businesswomen Can Learn From High School Mean Girls

You heard me right. Drama-filled, immature, self-centered high schoolers. They have a lesson for you. They are living proof that you can learn something new absolutely every day of your life.

I was waiting for my daughter’s dance class to end. I sat in the studio, watching girls of all ages run around in their leotards and tights, gossiping and talking about clothes and boys. It was a flurry of pink spandex, high pony-tails and OMGs. To the casual observer, it might have seemed like mass chaos.

However, in all the texting and awkwardness, there was a definite social hierarchy. There were alliance being formed right in front of my very eyes. Girls were flaunting and utilizing power to get their way. In fact, those high school mean girls that we all couldn’t stand, they seemed pretty poised to dominate any social setting you put them in. The more I watched them, the more I believe that there’s something to be learned from the social structure of adolescent females.
