According to Debby Carreau, President of Inspired HR, almost all managers fall victim to a hiring mistake at some point in their career. Development Dimensions International (DDI) recently published a study that looked at what hiring managers were doing right and what were some of their hiring pitfalls: 64% of managers fear they’re missing key information about a candidate, 44% of managers rely on their gut instinct to make a decision 47% of managers make hiring decisions in 30 minutes or less and 30-40% of managers don’t recognize illegal questions.
Anthony Morrison, Vice President of Cachinko, said, ”The hiring process is long and grueling, so it’s especially important for hiring managers to do it right the first time-otherwise, you’re doomed to repeat the process again and again,” says Morrison. “New hires don’t work out for a variety of reasons and some are simply unavoidable. However, there are things you can do to prevent these mistakes, but you have to know about the mistakes first.”
